Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade
Sunday mornings
Sunday mornings begin with parents and their children going to the worship service (beginning at 9:30 a.m.) together. Families are together until the "Children's Conversation", which starts approximately 20 minutes after the church service begins. After the Children's Conversation, the children are excused to Children's Church:
- Children in Pre-Kindergarten through Kindergarten go to the North Wing. They have a Bible story, craft, snack and games. The children are supervised from the beginning of Children's Church until the end of Sunday School.
- Children in grades 1-5 go to the South Wing. The children are supervised from the beginning of Children's Church until the end of Sunday School. See "The Rotation Model" (below) for more information about our teaching philosophy for the elementary children.
Parents may pick up their children immediately after the Worship Service or after Sunday School.
The Rotation Model
Our church uses the "Rotation Model" to teach the elementary children. We teach one Bible story per month through kid-friendly multimedia workshops: Art, Drama, Music, Games, Video, Puppets, Storytelling, Computers, etc. The model's philosophy recognizes that kids learn from repetition, and that it helps develop a lasting memory and understanding of content. The multi-intelligences (creative methods) approach also recognizes that all children (as well as adults!) learn and retain information in different ways.
