Adult Sunday School Classes
Spring Term Offerings
Sunday School is a wonderful opportunity to grow in your Christian walk. This Spring Quarter will provide some great classes to choose from. Classes will begin Sunday, March 7, at 11:00 am - 12:00 noon. Please read through the choices below and consider which class to try.
- John’s Gospel, taught by Joe Mortensen. John's Gospel is the most loved of any by many people -- for good reason. It's also in many ways the most challenging. This class will explore the first ten chapters in depth, supported by a close reading of the text and aided by N.T. Wright's excellent guide "John for Everyone: Chapters 1-10" (available on Amazon). Class will meet in the Harmony room.
- Living The Questions, taught by John P. Dick. Living the Questions is an examination of some very basic theological concepts from a Progressive Christian point of view. We will be examining themes such as: Restoring Relationships… The Prophetic Jesus… Evil, Suffering and a God of Love… Practicing Resurrection… Social Justice… Prayer as Intimacy With God… Compassion… This is the second part of the series offered during the first quarter of this year. Each Sunday will offer a 10 minute video presentation from a well known modern theologian followed by discussion. All are welcome. Class will meet in the Chapel.
- “Angels, God’s Secret Agents”, taught by David M. Brown. "Angels, God's Secret Agents", was a best-selling book by Billy Graham. Some of the truths we will uncover in the class include:
- Angels are for real
- How they differ from mankind
- Angels are sent by God to protect and deliver us
- Angels are present in the life of Jesus
- Angels know how to sing and worship.
- Missions to Africa and Ghana: Exploring Real Life Issues. taught by Allen Ross. This class will finish the book "A hole in the Gospel" and branch out to discuss current issues in Africa and Ghana that affect the people, their future and how missions can help or hurt them. New sources of material will come from on-line new articles, support agencies and perhaps a book to be determined. This class will help Ghana mission trip supporters, whether going or simply interested, to gain a better perspective on Africa and Ghana in particular. Class will meet in the Media room.
